Schools Get A Facelift

A list of improvements made to the schools in SAU #39 over the summer provided by Director of Buildings and Grounds Jim Miner:

All Districts

• Switched all floor finish and stripper to Green Seal Certified, environmentally friendly product. COST REDUCTION
• Completed changeover to microfiber cleaning equipment. Improved cleaning effectiveness, reduced product use and reduced worker strain and fatigue
• Contracted for improved water chemistry maintenance for all heating/boiler systems
• Electrical supply contract set with TransCanada at 7.63 cents / Kwh (PSNH 8.67 cents)
• Natural Gas and Fuel oil contracts still pending

Souhegan Cooperative School District

• Cafeteria – Art – Fitness area conversions completed
• New kitchen exhaust system installed
• 13 major building exhaust fans repaired and integrated into the building automation system.
• Life Skills refrigerator and freezer replaced
• Life Skill countertops, sinks, hardware replaces.
• Occupancy sensor controls added to all restroom lighting. (Reduces electricity)
• Ballast replacement completed in the annex.
• Carpeting replaced in Div. 1 & Div. 2 staff/office areas.
• Complete 2^nd locker pod upgrade (c-wing)
• Vinyl tile and dining tables added in the renovated pod areas (2).
• Installed storage racking for uniforms in both locker rooms
• Automated door openers added to east Annex entrance.
• Lawn and field sprinkler systems renovated, now fully functional

Amherst Middle School

• Final phase of electrical upgrades completed
• Installed SPED sponsored swing areas
• Replaced backboards and hoops in outside play area
• Replaced approximately ½ of the library shelving and installed a new circulation desk
• Replaced the wood shop table saw with a SawStop safe technology unit
• Replaces 10 aging security cameras and original DVR unit

Wilkins Elementary

• Vinyl tile installed in 6 classrooms (overlay of asbestos)
• 4 classrooms repainted
• Integrated final four classrooms into the BAS

Clark Elementary

• Full replacement of main roof
• Preschool playground area installed
• Jr. Women's funded grass play are installed
• Preschool room repainted
• Vinyl tile installed in 4 classrooms (overlay of asbestos)
• Integrated the west end classrooms, MPR and Art/Music into the heating BAS
• Renovated the staff room sink and cabinet area
• Replaced the failing sump pump for the old wing septic

Mount Vernon School District

• New flag pole installed
• New A/C installed in computer server room
• Recommissioning completed on all HVAC systems

Brick School

• Completed roof replacement
• Repainting and vinyl tile replacement in the community room
