Schools Prep for Students
School staff in the SAU #39 school district readied for the school year to begin this week.

Educators and staff spent the day yesterday preparing for incoming students ready for another year of learning in our school district.
Members of the school community gathered at the Annual “Back to School” Breakfast before coming together in the auditorium for the year’s official kick-off.
SAU #39 Board Chair Peter Maresco welcomed teachers and staff back to the schools.

“Everybody here has an awesome responsibility,” he said. “We have given you our most precious commodity - our kids.”
Maresco told the audience that his teachers brought out his love for math and science that would eventually turn into a career as an engineer. He said that is the power that the teachers have in their positions.

“Everything you do, day in day out, is going to be a tremendous influence on students. You will build a creative and inquisitive spirit in all of them,” he said. “Your hard work and dedication will shape our future leaders. There are kids depending on each of you.”
New superintendent Peter Warburton addressed the crowd, thank them for the respect and kindness they have showed since he started his position in the district.
He said that he could not improve the school district alone, but needed the combined efforts of everybody to make it great. His belief is that there is a leader “in every chair” within the schools.
“We cant be great unless we can all lead together,” said Warburton.
His focus as a leader in SAU #39 is to have each community member change their “mindset” in order to develop themselves to their full potential. Rather than stay fixed in their ways, he encouraged the school’s community members to use a “growth” mindset to make positive changes through cultivated efforts.
“Is it good enough to be just good enough?” he asked. “Good enough isn’t good enough.”
This initiative in the district is based on the book “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” by Carol Dweck. Warburton said he wants students to be the “best they can be” and that the main focus in their jobs should be student achievement.
“I look forward to working with all of you,” he said in closing. “I wish you the best year ever.”
