The slopes at Bretton Woods opened on Wednesday.

Yes, it's true, the first ski area of the season has officially opened in New Hampshire.

According to WMUR, Bretton Woods opened to skiers on Wednesday. Coincidentally, it was the same day the first snowflakes fell in parts of the Granite State. That dusting (less in some areas) wasn't enough for skiing, but Bretton Woods officials say they were able to make snow Monday and Tuesday thanks to the extremely cold temperatures. The ski lifts were scheduled to start operating at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
