Souhegan Sabers Defeat Con-Val Cougars

Our team took won the game at 11-5 on Wednesday.

The Souhegan Sabers baseball team found themselves down 5 to 3 in the bottom of the 5th inning and the Saber's offense scored 3 in the bottom of the 5th and 5 in the 6th to defeat the Con-Val Cougars 11 to 5.  

Senior Robby McCormick pitched six innings, allowed four hits and walked five while strike out seven to earn the victory.  Ben Osterholtz pitched the top of the seventh and gave up one hit and striking out one batter.

The Souhegan defense played solid behind the Saber pitchers as the team made only one error.  Tyler Ford led the team on defense with his solid play at second base including an outstanding catch on the first batter of the game.

In the first inning, Tyler Ford doubled down the right field line and scored on a single off the bat of Robert Graham to put Souhegan up 1-0.

In the second, Tim Beliveau doubled to left and scored on a throwing error.  Chris Chininis reached on the error, stole second and third base and scored the third run on a throwing error.  

Down 5 to 3 in the fifth, Robert Graham singled with two outs, Robby McCormick plated Graham on an rbi double to right center.

Terry Dugdale reached on a throwing error which scored Robby McCormick and Seth Learned rbi singled plated what turned out to be the game winning rbi. 

After Robby McCormick pitched out of a jam by striking out the final batter in the sixth, the Sabers scored five insurance runs ... highlighted by Chris Chininis and Seth Learned who each had singled which plated two Souhegan runs.

The victory put the Souhegan record at 3 wins and 1 loss.
