Souhegan Seeks To Renovate, Repair and Replace
The school district has only a small increase in its proposed budget, but is looking to raise money for work on the high school.

Souhegan's focus this fiscal year will be to address the critical areas of need within the high school's facility.
Business Administrator Elizabeth Shankel said that a Gale report on the state of the facility has resulted in $14 million in recommended repairs and improvements.
The Souhegan School Board chose the top priority items in the list, which includes the roof, the HVAC system on the main building, areas of pavement and interior locking system.

An , along with security cameras and increased lighting. These are being paid with money saved from pensions. Shankel said the interior locking system is obsolete and does not meet current safety and security measures.
The board is requesting $2,930,701 in bonds to address these issues, with a requested $50,066 for the first interest payment.

This year's proposed operating budget has been set to $18,550,794, which is only a .07 percent increase over last year. The default budget is set at $18,378,827.
A trust fund is also up for voter approval this year, which will be used for athletic fields, facilities and infrastructure.
The Souhegan Cooperative School District will be hosting its deliberative session on Monday, February 6 at 7 p.m. in Souhegan High School.
Voting for Amherst residents will be Tuesday, March 13 at Souhegan High School from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Mont Vernon residents will vote at the Village School from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
