'Stop the NED Pipeline Rally' Held Friday

NH Rebellion, others will gather in Concord to protest the construction of Kinder-Morgan's Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline, SuperPACs.

CONCORD, NH - Opponents of Kinder-Morgan’s Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline, as well as proponents of campaign finance reform will be joining forces for a rally from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, 2015.

The protesters will be meeting at Theatre and Storrs streets in Concord and then marching to the Statehouse plaza.

According to NH Rebellion, the rally is taking place because the Kinder family “is among the top campaign financiers in the country,” according to reports.

“Of the 158 most influential donors, the Kinder-Morgan co-founder and executive chairman and his wife rank number 16 and have contributed over $2 million dollars to Super PACs that drown out the voices of regular Americans in the Presidential campaign,” according to the organization. “At home, we must also be concerned with whose voices are heard by our governmental leaders – We the People or wealthy donors and special interests.”

The Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline is proposed to be constructed from western Massachusetts up into western New Hampshire – running through Milford, Amherst, Merrimack, Londonderry, Nashua, and Windham – and then back into Massachusetts. Opponents have raised concerns about eminent domain and private property rights, the environment, public safety, and whether or not the pipeline is actually needed; proponents point to the need for more domestic energy production as well as the construction jobs that come with the project.
