Storm Causes Crashes, Power Outages in NH

More than 1,960 PSNH customers are without power this morning.

Reports are that major highways and back roads alike are pretty slippery, and the maximum speed limit on roads like Interstate 93, Interstate 95, the Everett Turnpike and Route 101 has been reduced to 45 mph.

The Eagle-Tribune is reporting that there is about a 30-mile backup on I-93 south due to the storm.

There have been several reports of crashes throughout southern New Hampshire, including on I-95 north in Hampton, the Spaulding Turnpike south in Dover, and Route 101 east in Raymond. Accidents have also been reported in Hillsboro, Boscawen and Epsom.

Many schools throughout southern New Hampshire are also closed this morning due to the storm.

A total of 1,960 PSNH customers have no electricity. Unitil and the New Hampshire Electric Co-op are reporting no outages at this hour, but that could change as the heavy, wet snow continues to fall. Some areas have already gotten as many as 6 inches of snow.
