Student Develops Fitness Gear That Does Work For You

Thomas Wilbuer of Amherst joined a team fo Northeastern University students to work on the device.

A wearable piece of technology created by students takes the distracting brainwork out of a workout

Fitness tracker technology SQUID was developed by Amherst native and Northeastern University student Thomas Wilbur as part of their interdisciplinary capstone project.

How it works: Muscle-tracking electrodes use electromyography technology and transmit biofeedback in real time to a smartphone app and website for the user to track their progress and develop workouts. While Squid measures workout effectiveness like many products, it is uniquely able to measure your muscle output.
