Student Ranking Debate Continues
The Souhegan Cooperative School Board will meet at 6 pm tonight at the Souhegan High Info Center.

The subject of student ranking is sure to bring some interesting conversation at tonight's meeting, where an appeal will be filed to have the Decile System reinstated in Souhegan schools.
The system was voted to be removed this year, but this decision has been met with opposition. Michael Heaney, who is a coach at Souhegan, was the first to bring an appeal to the table on the decision.
According to the SHS Community Council, Souhegan had a system of ranking students based on GPA in ten deciles, or groups of 10%. The first decile is the top 10% of the grade, the second decile is from 20% to 11%, and so on. The proposal does away with this ranking system so that students wouldn’t be compared to other students and the only indication of how a student's performance would be GPA.
