Town Hires New Finance Director, Admin Assistant

The Board of Selectmen announced the new hires at their meeting Monday.

Amherst Town Hall will see two new faces very soon.

The Amherst Board of Selectmen announced at their meeting on Monday that they have chosen Paul Hebert as the new finance director, and Linda Langille as the newest administrative assistant.

Herbert comes to Amherst from the Town of Dracut, Massachusetts where he served as the town accountant for the last five years. Prior to working for Dracut, Paul was employed for several years at Catholic Medical Center as a senior accountant and as an accounting manager.

He holds a Master of Science Degree in Accounting, Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Growing up Paul lived in Amherst and attended schools in Amherst and Milford.

"Paul still considers Amherst to be home and is looking forward to be working for the town," the board said in their announcement.

Herbert will start his new position in two weeks, according to the board.

Linda Langille comes from New Ipswich and the board said that Linda brings a diverse and strong municipal background.

For the past three years Linda has served the Town of Litchfield as their finance/HR manager. Prior to that, Linda had been the town administrator for the Town of Greenville for eight years and served as the administrative assistant in the Towns of Dublin and New Ipswich for many years.

"Linda will need all of her acquired skills as she will serve as the Administrative Assistant to the Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator, and to the Finance Department as well as serving as our Human Resource Coordinator," wrote the board.

She is scheduled to start next week, after which she will also be appointed by the Board of Selectmen as the town’s welfare officer.
