True "Grit"
You hear a lot of that word lately. It's a great buzz word that everyone wants to be associated with and will sell a lot of crossfit or extreme workout programs ;) just sayin
But the fact remains that most of us fall short and work on short term inspiration, or a feeling of YES! I'm going to do this. Or an emotional appeal from a well devised marketing plan that gives you a great surge of hope, only to be forgotten and hard to pull up when the rubber hits the road.
TRUE GRIT doesn't come from you... ;) sorry to say, it comes from discipline and that word is and has been a very negative term in our minds. I know it has in mine.
TRUE GRIT comes from doing the things I don't "feel like doing" ... consistently, over and over again with my focus on something GREATER than MYSELF... something OUTSIDE of myself but yet somehow INSIDE myself in the deepest part of me. Hence the term "DIG DEEP"...
Think of it as this, we have EVERYTHING WE NEED .. already, it's just BURIED beneath the "STUFF" that we pile on top of it to avoid the ONE THING we need to listen to, draw from and access.... YOU know, like junk mail.... (maybe not such a good reference, but you know what I mean) We are hoarders of cheap empty junk that hinder (like sugar filled negative nutrient food) us from using the BEST STUFF for success.
Mental toughness is like a muscle. It needs to be worked to grow and develop.
So, TODAY we can define what THOSE things are that we need to let the Lord burn up (the stuff that clutters and gets in the way, that excess fat that we carry around from feeding on the junk etc..), that we can ACCESS the BEST stuff that we may SUCCEED, whatever that looks like for us.
By SUCCESS I don't mean as the world offers, but as the KINGDOM OF GOD offers.
*Not HAPPINESS, but TRUE JOY,
*Not ENTERTAINMENT but TRUE REST,
*Not RICHES but PURE GOLD, and
*Not FALSE HOPE but EVERLASTING HOPE
TRUE GRIT ... GET SOME... BE TRANSFORMED...
RENEW YOUR MIND BY THE WASHING OF THE WORD.. and then GO AND DO WHAT IT SAYS
