Perry said that Obama's “catch and release” policy regarding illegal immigrants was “horrific,” calling instead for a “detain and deport” policy. He added that "amnesty is not on the table" for those who come into America illegally.
He said that the federal government should allocate its resources to securing the Mexican border rather than on controlling education and health care. These resources could be used to employ full-time surge operations and border patrol agents.
Perry added that he would like to sit down with the next elected president of Mexico and have a conversation on how they can work together to curb illegal immigration.
