What's Happening At The Library?

Most Popular Adult Nonfiction: Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood.  Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.  It was that of a young lieutenant, the plane’s bombardier, who was struggling to a life raft and pulling himself aboard.  So began one of the most extraordinary odysseys of the Second World War.

April is National Poetry Month and at the library they are celebrating the ways poetry brings pleasure and sustains us! Take a look at our Staff "Poetree" blooming with some favorite poems of our Staff, get inspired with our Poem of the Week, dip into our Take a Poem...Leave a Poem... bowl of poems, or check out one of their many poetry books.

The Friends of the Library Need Volunteers. The Friends of the Amherst Town Library is a non-profit all volunteer group that devotes time to support the library through fund raising efforts along with developing programs that enrich the library's cultural services to our community. They are seeking volunteers who would be interested in helping out with some of the many services they provide, including: membership drives, museum passes, fundraisers, newsletters, book sales, museum trips, library book bags and note cards, student art shows, professional art exhibits, display case collections, hospitality for events, book groups, and holiday decorations just to name a few.
