Wondering how to dispose of your Christmas tree?
“Christmas trees go in the brush pile at the Amherst Transfer Station. Two to three times a year the pile is commercially chipped or shredded and reused as fuel or converted into bark mulch,” Director of Public Works Bruce Berry tells Amherst Patch.
The transfer station is at 260 Route 101. The hours are: noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 7 to 11 a.m. Friday; and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Amherst’s website.
