10 Left Homeless After NH Fire

The Red Cross is assisting families after fire and rescue teams knocked down a Hanover Street in Manchester; one firefighter was injured.

MANCHESTER, NH — The New Hampshire/Vermont Region of the American Red Cross is assisting 10 people after a multi-family apartment fire on Hanover Street in Manchester destroyed several apartments on Dec. 7, 2017, according to a press statement. Two other apartments were affected and the Red Cross is attempting to contact the families to see if they also need assistance. More than 100 firefighters were called to the blaze at around 10 a.m. this morning.

One firefighter suffered a burned hand as the fire went to three alarms.

According to Janet Vaughn of the Red Cross, a family is displaced by a disaster – most usually a home fire, about every 17 hours, somewhere in both states. Donations are being accepted to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to assist these families.
