MANCHESTER, NH: When Elizabete Grajcevci gave birth to her first child at the Elliot Hospital this past October, there were a lot of people in her corner.
Not only is she blessed with a large family, but Grajcevci, recently immigrated from Kosovo, is a Manchester Community Health Center (MCHC) patient. Guided through her pregancy and delivery by MCHC midwife Dorice Reitchel, Grajcevci chose a natural, drug-free childbirth. Working with MCHC nutritionist Sandy Bryant, she learned about the benefits of breastfeeding and chose to go that route. She also received educational visits from a home visiting nurse from the Manchester Health Department. And MCHC now offers weekly childbirth classes to its patients, presented by a certified childbirth educator.
