About 72% of Your Bedford Taxes Goes to the Schools. Want To Know Why?

Between the demands of the holidays and the recent weather challenges, it's easy for most people to forget that this is the time of the year when decisions are being made that will ultimately dictate how much of a bite your wallet will get when it comes time to pay your next Bedford tax bill.

Indisputable is the fact that most of our local taxes go to supporting the Bedford school system. But do you know how the money gets spent? Do you overall agree with school spending decisions, or do you think that there needs to be some fiscal restraint and relief? Is everything that is being proposed in the new budget really necessary, or are there new expenses that you believe can be legitimately postponed? Is all that we've been paying for essential to a good education for Bedford's kids, or are there some things that you would categorize as frills?

On Tuesday night at 7:00 PM in the Bedford High School Theater, the Bedford school district budget hearing will be held. Maybe you'd rather stay home where it's warm and catch one of your favorite television shows. But maybe you're a little worried about your next Bedford tax bill. I know that I'm worried. If that's the case for you too, then you should be sitting in the BHS Theater to listen, to ask questions, and to state your opinions.

72% of your tax payment should be worth a couple of hours out of your life.
On the other hand, maybe you could care less what it costs to live in the Bedford bubble. If that's the case, then just stay home.

Just saying.
