'Abraham & Mary Lincoln: The Long and Short of It,' May 20

Steve and Sharon Wood, Claremont, will present a living history program set in 1861.

Steve and Sharon Wood, Claremont, will present “Abraham and Mary Lincoln: the Long and the Short of It,” a living history program set in 1861. Their story tells of the distinctly different paths that led each of the Lincolns to Springfield, Illinois, where they met, married and began a family. The years that followed their move to the White House were filled with personal and national crises. After the program, the Woods will step out of character and answer audience questions.

Historical presenters specializing in 19th century American history, Steve and Sharon Wood have been researching and portraying the Lincolns since 1995. They are members of the Association of Lincoln Presenters (ALP) and were awarded the organization’s Glen Schnizlein Memorial Award for the Best Abraham & Mary Lincoln Team for both 2003 and 2006. Steve took 2nd place in the Lincoln Look-Alike Contest held in Hodgenville, Kentucky in 2000.

This is on May 20th from 6:30-8:30pm at the Bedford Public Library. The Bedford Historical Society with a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council is sponsoring the event at the Bedford Public Library. The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
