Aitken: Remember You Never Voted for This

So much in government is happening but most don't know just what

In response to "Lawmakers approve plan to act on affordable housing goals" which appeared in the Union Leader on 8/3/21: https://www.unionleader.com/news/politics/state/lawmakers-approve-plan-to-act-on-affordable-housing-goals/article_7a83c6c6-dfd1-59c3-89ac-4d9bbd082930.html

"The state will use $1.5 million in federal money to identify housing needs across New Hampshire as part of a three-year plan to ease a shortage of affordable housing by adding 13,500 units statewide."

Trouble is, neither feds nor 'state' have the constitutional right to ‘act’ on ‘affordable housing’. Most homeless are drug addicted and on the streets by choice. Very few would be helped even with the lowest of rents. Their problems go beyond anything 'housing' can fix.

Sununu is fully involved in carrying out Joe Biden's dirty work: "During a special meeting Tuesday, the Legislative Fiscal Committee approved using $1.5 million from the federal American Rescue Plan for regional planning commissions to do a needs assessment on housing across the state and to hire a project manager to implement a three-year strategic plan to improve housing stability."

Legislative Fiscal Committee? Did your representatives vote on this?

'Regional' government is not a legal entity and admits it has 'no authority'. Why is Sununu having them carrying out Biden’s misguided plan in NH? Unaccountable RPCs are appointees who should have NO say in what each town does.

"The new staffer will work for the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority on a plan to help make homelessness more “rare.” Each of the regional planning commissions in all 10 counties of the state will receive $100,000 to update studies on housing needs."

Translation: As always they are paying someone to figure out how to steal more of your money and raise your taxes by rewarding certain businesses while penalizing the middle-class, single-family homeowner.

This is not about ending homelessness but handing favors to developers whose work depends on funds from NHHFA, another unaccountable agency you never voted for.

"The state’s housing agency will receive $505,000 of the grant to cover the project manager’s salary and benefits, with $200,000 set aside to hire consultants to help."

Holy cow. The HAB is already getting $400K to take away your voting rights at your town meeting, and now this?

Who could have imagined such corruption in NH? Government partnerships with businesses, (they call that fascism) but only certain ones, government takeover of local zoning and planning, just as President Biden proposes, just as the Bolsheviks did in 1917. Are you angry yet?

"The plan’s recommendations include promoting new housing development; reducing barriers to affordable housing; and using a data-driven approach to understand regional needs".

Translation: Force stack'n'pack 'chicken coops' on our beautiful rural NH towns against their wishes.

"...$25 million of the budget surplus was put into the state’s affordable housing fund, with another $5 million expected to come from the state’s real estate transfer tax," proving once again, this is nothing that you, the taxpayer, ever voted for, except perhaps approval to use the real estate tax for this purpose.

"In total, the Legislative Fiscal Committee approved the expenditure of $4 million in federal rescue plan programs, including a $1 million marketing effort to deal with the state’s workforce shortage."

How does government get away with favoring certain businesses over others when it comes to handing them tax money? $1 million marketing effort? Really?

"The state’s new Department of Energy received a $150,000 grant to do a report on the environmental impact of creating an offshore wind project off the Gulf of Maine."

The article also mentioned wind farms. Just what we need; bird-killing, ugly wind farms off our beautiful coast. Where was the vote on this?

You might think NH was California or that Sununu was channeling Governor Newsom who proposed the exact same housing plan. The difference is, the CA legislature had the brains to reject it!

Remember, you never voted for any of this.
