Aitken: Republicans Need a Fresh Start by Rejecting Trump in 2024

Can voters do the right thing and save the GOP or will the party lose even more members after the primary? Updated 1/20/24

If I were to tell you everything I know about Trump’s reckless personal life, including his sexual abuse of women, tainted business history and bankruptcies, draft-dodging, constant blatant lying, cheating donors, squishy liberal presidential record, surrender to the establishment, and criminal behavior, it would be too much write here.

In his past administration he demonstrated a massive failure as a “conservative” Republican by being almost totally taken over by the establishment. He’s now insulted the voting public by refusing to debate, likely knowing he can’t defend his poor record against his intellectual superiors. He is threatening and promising revenge on fellow conservative Republicans who won’t endorse him, falsely accusing them of being ‘RINOs’, while embracing actual RINOs.

His surrogates are hard to deal with. They seem to lack any political literacy or awareness of their own candidate’s actions. Some have crossed the lines of decency in their words and deeds. Those who refuse to support Trump are subject to harassment, doxxing, and even death threats. Thanks to this and Trump’s own bizarre and inappropriate behavior, Trump has lost the support of many who vow they will not vote for him ever again, even if he should become the nominee. We only need to look at the losses suffered at all levels since 2018 by candidates who continue to support him or tout his lies, the most recent losing her bid for NH’s RNC Chairwoman.

His recent self-absorbed, unhinged rants on social media are indicative of someone with serious mental issues, not someone whose finger should be near the nuclear button. He is subject to delusions of grandeur, with claims of having done things he never did, lies which his followers never fact check. He’s expressed the desire to rule as a dictator, even going so far as to demand an end to primaries and debates, or to suspend the constitution in order to stay in power. We all remember the “I could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue…” comment. What more does he have to do before people will find him and his ideas unacceptable?

It is apparently lost on his supporters that he raised the national debt by $8T in just 4 years, which was DOUBLE the amount raised by Obama in 8 years. This spending was likely responsible for the massive inflation that ensued. They refuse to believe he failed to secure the border with a wall, or that it was he who signed he CARES ACT that allowed mail-in voting. He refused to quell the riots in 2020 by deeming them domestic terrorists and calling out the guard on advice from Democrat advisors. He pardoned high-level Democrat criminals Rod Blagojevich and Kwame Kilpatrick and let drug criminals out of jail on recommendation of Kim Kardashian. He’s proud of his endorsement by Black Lives Matter. He scammed his supporters out of $250M for a ‘stop the steal’ effort, money which he then used as personal funds. He tried to stop the transfer of power after an election he lost, and in the process, incited thousands of supporters to commit an attack that did $30M damage to the beautiful US Capitol building. I won't begin to cover the accusations that resulted in 4 arrests and 91 criminal indictments. I could go on, and on, and on.

And the hypocrisy is rich. For those who have been bragging about Kid Rock shooting up a Bud Light can, Trump said his spokesperson Bruce Jenner could use the ladies bathroom at Mar-a-Lago. Trump refused to call out Disney for opposing parental rights in Florida after being informed by his son that they had given him $10M in donations. Later, Kid Rock was seen drinking a Bud Light. You can’t make this stuff up folks.

He caved into all the RINO establishment and Democratic influences and hirees, including wanting amnesty for 1.8 illegals and a deal for 'dreamers'. He supported Nancy Pelosi for speaker.

Whenever his supporters are asked why Trump’s focus is always on himself and his problems, or are shown examples of his political illiteracy, incoherence, lies and feckless actions, all we get is blind and clueless excuses, feigned ignorance or outright denial. Most of his promises were not kept, Republican policies not followed. And yet, they say they would die for him., making excuses for him at every as if they were in a cult.

While Trump is the guy who is not above trashing good conservatives like Kemp, Youngkin, Reynolds, Massie and Roy, he has no compunction about praising communist dictators like Kim Jong-un, Putin and Xi, openly expressing that he too, wishes he could murder his political opponents just like they often do.

So what choices do we have? Do we want someone who admires communist dictators or a real conservative? How is Trump even considered a serious candidate at this point?

Nikki Haley is a neocon establishment-backed candidate as well, funded by donors from the military industrial complex and huge Democrat donors. She’s almost as good a liar as Trump and got smoked in the last two debates because of it. Despite coming in third in Iowa, she claimed she was now in second place. She refused to do the last two debates, using the poor excuse that if Trump wouldn't, she did not have to. We suspect she didn't want her bad record to be exposed again. Many have told me they will NOT vote for anyone in the general who has refused to debate.

Haley will likely be Trump’s VP pick. She too, pandered to the Chinese communists by basically letting them take over South Carolina.

There is only one qualified and accomplished conservative running in the Republican primary and his name is Governor Ron DeSantis. Will Republicans do the right thing and save the GOP?
