Aitken: Take Action on Housing Bills
Stop the plan to flood NH with high density housing and reward developers with tax breaks in the process

A few days after a "casual" lunch with his developer friends, the Governor teamed up with Democrats and announced a Bolshevik-style (unconstitutional?) plan to manage/mandate housing in NH.
The plan could take control over development, potentially increasing taxes, especially for single-family homeowners. Is it really the purview of the state to decide for the towns what they should build? Should they be using your tax money to reward developers?
There are currently five bills related to this plan. Two of them (denoted with *) are a direct product of the plan, concocted by two young State Reps touted as "graduates" of the left-leaning Carsey Institute.

*HB 1629 and *HB 1632 will impose mandates and deadlines on town boards while awarding tax breaks to developers who construct high-density. If certain deadlines are not met, decisions could be thrown to a state board.
HB 1248 is another bill that promotes tax incentives for developers who construct high-density.

HB 1450 may have the potential to reduce the power of local zoning and planning boards.
SB 475 would allow towns to let the residents vote in favor of tax breaks for high-density developers on the school portion of the bill.
The only parties to benefit from this plan to flood NH with high-density housing would seem to be the developers.
The Governor chose to attack Bedford voters who made their wishes clear at their last town meeting. His developer friends are not shy about their ongoing relationship with the Governor, often bragging about, and posting pictures of their frequent outings with him, on social media.
