Alert: Traffic Diverted from Brown Avenue

A water main break in Manchester is causing traffic problems; nearby residents may also see water pressure issues.

A major water main break has occurred on Brown Avenue from the I-293 Overpass northerly up to the South Beech Street intersection, according to Manchester Police.

Traffic traveling east and west on I-293 will still be able to use Exit 2 (Brown Avenue) affording travel south on Brown Avenue toward the Manchester Boston Regional Airport or Litchfield. If you are traveling to the airport, please plan ahead due to the traffic congestion.

Traffic will not be allowed to travel on Brown Avenue northerly from the 293 overpass.

Traffic traveling south on South Beech Street will not have access to Brown Avenue. All traffic will be detoured from South Beech Street to Presidential Road.

Bow Avenue will not have access from Brown Avenue.

Manchester Highway Department will be setting up traffic barricades and detour signs. Again, use caution when traveling in the area and plan ahead due to traffic congestion.

Preliminarily, Manchester Water Works estimates traffic detours and time of repair to be a minimum of 24 hours.

About an hour ago, Bedford Police issued an alert warning that residents may have water pressure issues due to the break.
