Alleged Prowler With Stolen Property Arrested: Report
James Ellner was arrested last week allegedly in possession of jewelry near the scene of Queen City burglaries earlier in the day.

MANCHESTER, NH — A local man was arrested on Friday night after police were sent to a report of burglaries in the North End of Manchester. James Ellner, 46, of Manchester, was arrested on Dec. 8, 217, on two counts receiving stolen property, falsifying physical evidence, resisting arrest or detention, and loitering. Officers were sent to Ray Street for a report of a homeowner witnessing a subject in his backyard at just after 6:30 p.m. on Friday, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department.

The homeowner, according to the officers, chased the subject off his property but a trail camera caught a still photo of the subject before he sped off on a bicycle.

Other officers, according to O’Keefe, noticed the same subject riding a bicycle several minutes later in the area of Pine and Harrison streets.
“They attempted to stop him as he rode southbound in the northbound lane, but the man ignored the officers as he rode away from the two police officers,” O’Keefe alleged. “They briefly activated (a) siren but the man again refused to stop for them. They finally stopped him near his Harrison Street residence and confirmed his identification.”

The man – Ellner – was arrested for resisting arrest or detention but more charges were added to his docket after police allegedly found him in possession of jewelry – a gold cross and a diamond ring.
“Both items were reported stolen from a Belmont Street address and a North Adams Street burglary earlier in the day,” O’Keefe stated, adding that a chisel was also located nearby.
Ellner was held by police and arraigned on Monday.
