My name is John Fitzgerald and I am writing today to announce my candidacy for State Representative for Hillsborough County District 2 (HI-2)
I’m a thirty four year resident of New Hampshire and have lived in Bedford with my wife and two children since 2005. I’m a first generation American and a US Navy veteran, where I served as an air traffic controller for five years. In 1987, I began a twenty-seven year career as an Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in 2013. During my time in government service, I was a union activist, serving as a union local president, vice president and secretary. For nearly seventeen years, I served on the National Legislative Committee of my union, the National Air Traffic Controllers Association. Both of my children attended the Bedford school system, and I have served on the Boards of Villa Augustina School in Goffstown and Bedford Little League.
Beginning in March 2022, I have made five trips to Poland and Ukraine to deliver much needed humanitarian relief to the victims of Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression.
But enough about me.
I’m running for state representative to promote affordable housing; retain local control of school budgets and curricula and; to protect our democratic institutions.
If you’re like me and you’re tired of politics as performance art; if you’ve had it with “winner-take-all”, “heads-I-win, tails-you-lose” self-dealing, I hope that we can have a conversation, and that I can win your vote this November.
