It's amusing watching Democrats attack local Republican candidates by blaming them for the increase in property taxes.
Property taxes have risen every year no matter who's been in office. House values have risen significantly, and thus property taxes have risen accordingly.
They've also tried to connect people to "Trump's agenda" when state officials serve in Concord, not Washington DC. Our NH elected officials cannot possibly vote on Trump's agenda one way or another. Democrats count on this common confusion.
District 9's incumbent Senator has done more for families, women and children, and the health of New Hampshire than anyone. Senator Ricciardi regularly visits and serves all 13 towns, sometimes working 14 hours per day. She's won numerous awards, many for keeping New Hampshire healthy, clean and making it easier for businesses to thrive. (https://www.denisericciardi.org/news/awards/)
And when it comes to property taxes she's passed legislation to force the state to reimburse towns a percentage of meals and rooms revenue closer to what's required by law. Another bill will increase that percentage. That's how you reduce property taxes without adding new ones.
To the contrary, her Democrat opponent McLaughlin wants to raise your taxes based on the theory that creating new income or sales taxes will somehow mitigate your property taxes. It didn't happen in Connecticut or Vermont, or anywhere else it's been tried.
For more information please check the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers website (cnht.org) for two documents; "A River Divides It" and "15 Years of Folly" for proof that income and sales taxes do NOT help reduce property taxes!
