The event is held by the association to raise money to purchase equipment for the ambulance and fire department that helps the firefighters save more lives and property for the citizens of Bedford. Previous types of equipment purchased by the firefighters association and donated to the town have been updated rescue tools such as "the Jaws of Life" that can cut through the new harder materials in automobiles, semi automatic defibrillators, water rescue equipment and thermal imaging cameras. The fundraising efforts provide the association
with the ability to continue the Normand Richards Scholarship Fund each year for graduating senior high school students from Bedford. The firefighters
association has sponsored the fire prevention program for the fire department.
