Here are the top three stories today in Bedford:

  1. Manchester Fire and AMR ambulance responded to a report of a deceased person in a homeless encampment in the woods behind the NH DMV on South Willow Street on Thursday. About 2 p.m., the body was removed from the woods by a local funeral home. The cause of death will be investigated. Manchester Police spokesperson Heather Hamel reported the death did not appear to be suspicious. (NH Patch)
  2. Johnathan Griffin, 18, a good Samaritan, was seriously injured in a crash Tuesday night in Manchester, New Hampshire, state police said. Troopers responded to the scene on Raymond Wieczorek Drive at 10:30 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2007 Chevy pickup truck was disabled near the center median and Griffin had stopped to help the driver of the pickup when a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta crashed into the pickup and also hit Griffin who was outside of his vehicle at the time. ( NewsBreak)
  3. New Hampshire ice safety: when is it OK to walk, skate on ice? People are urged to be mindful that ice that has formed on ponds and lakes across New Hampshire is likely not safe to walk or skate on. The safety reminder comes after a teenager was rescued Monday after falling through the ice while skating on Honey Pot Pond in Amherst. Even when the shoreline looks frozen, deeper water is the last to freeze and could actually be very thin ice or open water. (mynbc5.com)
