Ayotte Recognized for Support of National Service
New Hampshire Senator was among bipartisan group of national service advocates honored earlier this month.
WASHINGTON, DC - In recognition of her support for national service, U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-NH, received a distinguished service award from Voices for National Service, a diverse coalition of national service programs, state service commissions and individual champions, that work to ensure Americans of all ages have the opportunity to serve and volunteer in their community.
The award, according to a press statement, was given for “prioritizing national service funding and legislation to expand high-quality opportunities for citizens to serve their community and our country.”
Ayotte was honored along with other leaders in government, business and journalism including U.S. Sens. John McCain, R-AZ, and Michael Bennet, D-CO, U.S. Reps. Rosa DeLauro, D-CT, and Bob Dold, R-IL, Gov. Terry McAuliffe, D-VA, and First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe, and CSX Corporation Chairman Michael Ward.

“Sen. Kelly Ayotte is a vocal champion for national service programs, and has worked tirelessly to ensure continued and expanded funding for these proven initiatives,” said AnnMaura Connolly, president, Voices for National Service. “This year, as a member of the Senate Budget Committee, Senator Ayotte helped to protect essential funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its core programs, including AmeriCorps and Senior Corps. We are honored to recognize Senator Ayotte as a champion of national service.”
Ayotte said she was honored to receive the award.

“National service members and volunteers have a significant impact on the lives of others, both in my home state of New Hampshire and across the country,” she said. “I am honored to receive this award, and look forward to continuing my work with groups like Voices for National Service to support and expand opportunities for individuals to serve our communities and our country.”
Honorees were selected based on recognition and support for national service as a solution to some of the nation’s most pressing challenges. Each award winner has helped to raise public awareness of national service and elevate national service as a legislative priority.
