Here are the top three stories in Bedford today:

  1. The New Hampshire Attorney's General Office has received authorization from the courts to examine general election materials from two municipalities. In Bedford, officials have been given permission to open and tally the number of absentee ballots that went uncounted in the 2020 general election. According to the city, an error by an election official resulted in 190 absentee ballots not being counted; however, these votes would not have changed any outcomes. (The Laconia Daily Sun)
  2. The House is scheduled to vote today on three bills that would determine who can receive a driver's license in New Hampshire. The Republican majority's current proposed solution would exclude undocumented citizens as well as those seeking asylum. Bedford Republican Rep. Ted Gorski stated it was "bad public policy" to grant driver's licenses and ID cards to these individuals, claiming it would lead to "further illegal conduct." (Concord Monitor)
  3. If you're shopping for a new house, looking at online listings is a great starting point — but seeing the property in person offers valuable information you need before making a decision. To help prospective homeowners in their search, Patch and Redfin have partnered to bring readers the latest open houses in Bedford. There are two open houses this weekend: a showing on Saturday, Apr. 2 at 12:00 p.m. for a 4 bed/5.5 bath, and another on Sunday, Apr. 3 at 12:00 p.m. for a 3 bed/2.5 bath.
