Bedford Bicyclist Dies in Wilton Crash
Breaking: A local man was killed this afternoon after vehicle struck a bicycle on Route 31.

WILTON, NH — New Hampshire State Police have released the name of a bicyclist who perished in a crash on Route 31 this afternoon in Wilton. Jeremiah Fitzgibbon, 60, of Bedford, was riding a Trek bike south in the breakdown lane of Route 31 when he was reportedly stuck by a Subaru Impreza being driven by a 24-year-old Wilton man who was driving north and attempted to make a left hand turn onto Burton Highway, according to Sgt. Steven Wheeler of the NHSP.
“As a result of this collision the cyclist suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to those injuries,” Wheeler stated.
Assisting on scene were members of the Wilton Police Department, Wilton Fire and Rescue, EMS Crews, and NH DOT.

At this time the crash investigation is being handled by the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (C.A.R. Unit). No charges have been filed.

According to posts online, Fitzgibbon is a local inventor who holds a number of patents and previously worked for Standard Oil Company. He was a sales and marketing manager with Gavish.com, a firm dealing with sapphires and fabrication in Israel and Bedford. Fitzgibbon also regularly ran road races.
