Bedford Cub Scouts Find Unique Connection with Michigan Girl Scouts
See what brought these two groups together.

Last fall, Chris Carter found a balloon in his Bedford backyard.
At the time, the local Cub Scout Den Leader (Wolf Den 6 in Bedford’s Pack
Five) had no idea where the balloon originated.
The answer surprised him.

The balloon originated 700 miles away, in Sterling Heights, MI, a Detroit suberb, where it was released, along with 74 others, during an annual opening ceremony for the Bruce Collins Elementary School Girl Scouts.
Each balloon contained a tag requesting an email response from he recipient.
Carter used the balloon’s journey - which took less than two days - as an opportunity to teach his wolf den about weather patterns and air currents.

Tonight, the Bruce Collins Elementary School Girl Scouts. are holding their closing ceremony and they've asked the local Bedford den to join in through Skype, a live internet video chat service.
The Bedford scouts meet at 6 tonight, in the McAllister Meeting Room at the
Bedford Public Library, where they're scheduled to connect with their Midwest counterparts around 6:15.
The Girls Scouts are likely in for a surprise, as they're unaware they'll be introduced to their Cub Scout friends from New Hampshire.
All are welcome to attend the event the live chat. Those interested may contact Carter at cgcarter@comcast.net.
