Bedford Firefighters Toll Boot Drive

Successful fund drive for the Bedford Firefighters Association Scholarship, Rescue and Fire Prevention Funds.

The Bedford Firefighters Association held its annual Toll Boot Drive at the Bedford Wal-Mart on Saturday. The annual fund drive helps to provide funding for the Norman Richards Scholarship Fund for graduating High School students from Bedford. It also helps to provide for the Rescue fund that was established to purchase needed equipment for the Fire Department. Over the years the association has purchased hydraulic extrication equipment, medical equipment, radios, defibrillators, rope rescue, ATV equipment and the list goes on. For many years the firefighters association provided the funding to the departments fire prevention program purchasing hats, coloring books, education and the annual open house. The members of the fire department maned the annual “voluntary” Toll Boot at the entrance to Wal-Mart for the past twenty years. The association would like to thank the management and the employees ans shoppers of Wal-Mart for their assistance over the years for the opportunity to do this fund raiser.
