“On This Spot Once Stood…” Remembering the Architectural Heritage of New Hampshire
New Hampshire has lost many of its important historic buildings to fire, neglect, intentional demolition and re-development. In some cases, a plaque or marker provides a physical reminder of what was, but in other examples, no tangible evidence remains.
This program will showcase some of the celebrated buildings that New Hampshire has lost, and explore examples of how and why we commemorate those losses. It will explore the significance of these structures, explain their fate, and analyze popular responses, both historically and in the present.
The Bedford Historical Society is an IRS 501c3 organization. We receive no tax dollars to fund our organization. All donations, dues and gifts are tax deductible.
