Bedford Hit With Rash Of Car Break-Ins, Stolen Credit Cards

Bedford Police said six smash-and-grabs have been reported in the past week with stolen credit cards then used at local businesses.

BEDFORD, NH — Bedford residents are asked not to leave personal items of value in their cars after a rash of recent smash-and-grabs that led to stolen credit cards being used at local businesses. Bedford Police said there have been six reports of motor vehicle break-ins along South River Road and near the soccer field on Back River Road in the past week.

In each case, windows were broken and purses were taken. Stolen credit cards were then used to make unauthorized purchases. Bedford Police said they believe the crimes are the work of one group.

Police said one of the suspects is a middle-aged, white female with a brace on her right wrist. Police are also looking for a black male driver and a white male seen driving a black BMW with no front plate.

"Unfortunately, residents need to be constantly vigilant when it comes to securing valuables, money and purses, and should never leave those items in a motor vehicle, even if it is locked," Bedford Police Chief John Bryfonski said. "We're actively investigating these incidents, and encourage anyone who may have information to contact us as soon as possible."

Residents are urged to lock cars even when they are in a driveway and not to leave any personal items, especially those of value, in plain sight.
