Bedford Man Arrested in Merrimack

Police allege that Jason Porter was stealing items at Shaw's Supermarket.

A Bedford man turned himself into Merrimack Police over the weekend on a theft charge, according to press statement.

Jason Porter, 45, of Jenkins Road in Bedford, was arrested after police issued a warrant for his arrest on a theft by unauthorized taking involving Shaw’s Supermarket.

According to police, an officer was called to the store to investigate a report of a man “stealing from the store over a period of time.” Porter, according to the allegation, was using the self-service scan checkout to buy store items but was reportedly not scanning in any of the items in his basket and then, would leave the store without paying for the items. Police investigated the matter and then, issued a warrant for Porter.

He was released on personal recognizance bail and is due in court on April 9.
