Bedford Man Arrested on Threat, Breach of Bail Charges
Concord Police: Robert Broder called, texted his ex-girlfriend repeatedly after being arrested for assaulting her in Weare in February.

A local man was arrested and held without bail last month after allegedly communicating with his ex after an assault arrest in mid-February.
Robert Broder, 46, of North Amherst Road in Bedford, was arrested at 2 a.m. on March 21, 2015, and charged with criminal threatening (intimidation, etc.) and four counts of default or breach of bail conditions.
According to a court affidavit and arrest reports, officers received two reports from a woman in early March that her ex-boyfriend, Broder, was allegedly violating his bail by communicating with her, after he was arrested for domestic violence-simple assault and obstructing the report of a crime in Weare in mid-February.

On March 1, according to the allegation, he allegedly called her “approximately 20 times” while she was staying with friends in an apartment on Thorndike Street. The officer took the report and after he left, Broder allegedly called again and “threatened” the tenant of the apartment.
The next day, Broder allegedly began calling her again, at least 15 times before 10:30 a.m., according to the affidavit. She reportedly told him to stop calling but he would allegedly call back and be “very aggressive, telling her that he knew where she was ant that he was going to come and get her,” the affidavit alleged. There were also allegedly numerous text messages to her cellphone, according to the report.

Both the tenant and the woman gave the officer statements and while doing so, the phone rang. The officer requested permission to answer the phone and it was granted by the tenant. The man on the other end was allegedly Broder.
The officer didn’t identify himself, at first, but instead, questioned Broder, who allegedly denied having an active protective order, according to the affidavit. When told that he was a police officer and he had physically had a copy of the order against him, Broder allegedly stated that he was returning his ex’s call from 20 minutes before.
“I told him that he was lying because I had been at the residence for the past 20 minutes and she had not called anybody,” the officer reported. “I then told Boder that I was going to obtain an arrest warrant for breach of bail and I would call him when it was ready.”
Broder was ordered not to contact the woman again and when asked if he understood, he reportedly stated, “Yes,” and then hung up the phone.
The officer checked the previous bail paperwork and found that the communication restrictions had not been rescinded. The only change was the elimination of the cash bail requirement to personal recognizance bail status. He also reportedly confirmed Broder’s number with the Weare Police.
A few weeks later, officers were sent to Thorndike Street for a warrant service for Broder, who was at the apartment. He was taken into custody and requested medical attention due to an infection in his leg. Broder was transported to Concord Hospital and treated. He refused bail and was arraigned on March 23.
