Bedford Man, Attempting To Assist A Swimmer, Drowns In NH Lake
Vinod Varadharajan, 37, drowned in Echo Lake in Conway on Saturday while attempting to assist another swimmer.

BEDFORD, NH — Marine patrol officials have released the name of a man who drowned in Echo Lake in Conway on Saturday.
New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol officers were sent to the lake around 4:45 p.m. for a report of a possible drowning. When they arrived, they found Good Samaritans performing CPR on Vinod Varadharajan, 37, of Bedford. Varadharajan “was attempting to assist another swimmer when he went underwater and did not resurface,” Marine Patrol Lt. Crystal McLain said.
“When emergency crews arrived on scene, they transported him to Memorial Hospital in Conway where he was pronounced deceased,” she said. “The incident is under investigation, however, foul play is not suspected.”

Assisting marine patrol were Troop E troopers, Conway police and firefighters, and Echo Lake State Park staffers.
