Bedford Man Elected USNH Chairman

Richard Galway's term runs for one year.

A Bedford man was elected as chairman of the University System of New Hampshire board of trustees this week.

Richard Galway of Bedford, a retired judge, was elected chairman at the board's annual meeting on Tuesday. The board also elected Pamela Diamantis of Greenland as vice chair, and re-elected Elizabeth Hoadley of Concord as secretary and William Ardinger of Concord as board liaison to the general counsel. The terms run for one year, beginning July 1.

The 27-member board is responsible for the oversight of the university system, which includes the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State University, Keene State College and Granite State College.

Galway is a graduate of UNH and Boston University Law School. He was a partner at Devine, Millimet and Branch, P.A. in Manchester from 1970 to 1995 and is a former New Hampshire Supreme Court judge. He was appointed to the USNH board by Gov. John Lynch in 2009, and his current term runs through June of 2013.
