Bedford Man, Others Arrested After Manchester Melee

Police: Jonathan Soto arrested for coming at officers; Massachusetts man Tased.

Four people, including a Bedford man, were arrested at McGarvey’s Pub in Manchester early this morning on various charges, according to a police report.

Those arrested were:

  • Jonathan Soto, 23, of Bedford (pictured left), who was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest;
  • Audiel Antonio Arevalo Hereera, Brighton, MA (not pictured), who was charged with simple assault (on a police officer), disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest;
  • Michael Kondzielaski, 30, of Manchester (center), who was charged with disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest;
  • Chelsea Matz, 24, of Manchester (pictured right), who was charged with simple assault (on a police officer) and disorderly conduct.

According to police, officers were sent to the pub around 1 a.m. for a report of an “out of control” individual.

The first officer spoke to an intoxicated subject and later, Hereera allegedly approached the officer and attempted to kick and punch him.

“The officer immediately used verbal commands, stepped back and deployed his department issued taser,” according to Sgt. Brian O’Keefe, a spokesman for the Manchester Police Department. “Two separate taser deployments did not have any adverse effect on Herrera as he continued to assault (the officer).”

Other officers arrived and they continued to Tase Hereera. After numerous shots, he was incapacitated and took into custody.

People gathered around the incident and while doing so, another individual, Kondzielaski, allegedly approached the officers “in an aggressive manner” and refused to adhere to commands to leave the area. He reportedly continued to interfere with the situation so officers went to take him into custody and he reportedly ran into the pub, refusing to stop. Two officers later caught up with Kondzielaski and arrested him.

While waiting for a transport wagon to arrive, another unruly subject began to advance on the officers and reportedly refused to leave. The man, later identified as Soto, allegedly failed to stop advancing toward the officers so he was arrested, too.

More officers showed up to the pub to clear the area and while doing so, Matz approached an officer and “allegedly acted in a disruptive manner as she pushed the officer in an attempt to keep the officer from retrieving an item of evidentiary value,” according to the report. She was also arrested.

While placing the people in a transport wagon, Hereera allegedly kicked another officer while he attempted to buckle him in for transported. He was later transported to Elliot Hospital since officers suspected he might be under the influence of an illegal drug that may cause harm to him, according to the report.
