Bedford Martial Arts Academy’s 4th
Annual “Big Summer Bash” 2014

 Kick summer into gear
and come celebrate the Bedford Martial Arts Academy’s 4th Annual
“Big Summer Bash.”  Summer fun will
spread with the exciting activities at this year’s free event that is scheduled
for Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 4:00 p.m.
to 6:30 p.m. at the Bedford Martial Arts Academy, Bedford, NH.
This event
benefits the Our Promise to Nicholas Foundation’s (OPTN) mission to raise funds
and mold partnerships to promote awareness, provide education and fund the
development of research to fight Batten Disease, a rare debilitating childhood
illness.

The sounds and smells of a summer bash will be pouring
out of the Academy with this year’s line-up. There will be fantastic
entertainment including a dunk tank,
bounce house, magic shows, face painting, board breaking and star throwing.
There will be food by Good Thymes BBQ, music by MC Hoopsta and 94.1 Hot Hits
Rolling Radio.
In addition, there will be police and fire vehicles as well
as raffles and games. Whether you are returning for your 4th year or
attending for the first time, there is something for everyone.

The Bedford Martial
Arts Academy is committed to making leaders out of their students by demonstrating
community commitment and giving through the value of helping others.  Each year the Academy’s students participate
in four (4) charity events. Each event highlights the commitment of serving
others. Local businesses and volunteers enthusiastically come together to
create this special event.  For the second year in a row, the Academy
has chosen OPTN to be the recipient of the events proceeds.
John Stewart,
Owner of Bedford Martial Arts Academy states, “Our philosophy is to create
leaders through community involvement, and this event showcases how great the
quality of our Karate Family leaders really are. I am incredibly proud to be
their instructor.  You don’t have to be a
black belt to help others, but you do have to help others to be a black belt.”

 This
event is more than a celebration of summer, it is a celebration of community,
commitment to others, and teaches all of us the importance of life and the
spirit of giving.  The heart and soul of
this event is highlighted by the spirit of Nicholas Dainiak, for which the OPTN
Foundation was founded. In Nicholas’ short 11 years he gave the community the
longevity of hope that one day there will be a cure for Batten Disease. His
life changed the community and your attendance to make this year’s fun-filled
event bigger and better than ever will continue to provide the research funding
necessary to help others combat this rare illness.

 Our
Promise to Nicholas Foundation

Our Promise to
Nicholas Foundation was founded in 2009 after Nicholas Dainiak was diagnosed
with Batten Disease. This rare, and currently incurable genetic disorder,
affects an estimated four children in every 100,000 born in the United
States.  Nicholas’ parents, Chris and
Heather, promised him that they would work tirelessly to find a cure for this
brutal and debilitating disease. Sorrowfully, Nicholas, age 11 lost his battle
with Batten. The Foundation continues to passionately strive to raise awareness
and fund research, so that others may be cured. The Foundation’s primary focus is
for Batten Disease which may in turn assist in finding cures for more common
diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
