School officials have implemented safety and sanitation procedures to ensure student health at both Lurgio and the high school.

BEDFORD, NH — A local school food worker was diagnosed a staph during the weekend and school officials have taken precautions for student safety, according to a report in the New Hampshire Union Leader. Superintendent Chip McGee confirmed in the report that a worker at the Lurgio Middle School came down with the skin infection known as the MRSA virus.

McGee issued a statement to parents on Monday and informed them of what the school had already done to prevent the spread – including sanitizing both the Lurgio and high school kitchens as well as ensuring that workers were wearing protective gear, like gloves.
