Bedford Police High Speed Chase Ends in Manchester

A high-speed chase that started in Bedford and ended in Manchester has sent two to the hospital, according to reports.

The Bedford Police Department started off with a pursuit of a stolen vehicle that entered into the city of Manchester at around 2:15 p.m. on Jan. 21. Police continued to chase the vehicle, a Honda Accord with two occupants. When the vehicle entered Second Street from Harvell Street at the I-293 Exit 4 off ramp, the Accord collided with a pickup truck that was driving onto Second Street from the off ramp.

“According to witnesses at the scene the vehicle and cruisers were (driving) at a high rate of speed,” according to Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography.

“Multiple Manchester officers arrived on scene to assist in the crash investigation and the apprehension of the operator and the passenger of the stolen car,” said Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department. “The crash has caused major traffic delays and road closures. Second Street, from Harvell Street to Queen City Avenue is closed to all traffic (as of 3:30 p.m.). The Queen City Bridge is open to east and westbound traffic.”

The occupants in the Honda appeared to received life-threatening injuries and were treated at the scene by Bedford and Londonderry Fire and Rescue teams.

After extrication and treatment, the occupants were transported to the hospital.

Information about the two people arrested was not available at post time.
