Bedford Police Officer Beneficiary of BWC Fundraiser

BWC concludes club year with contributions to non-traditional Bedford moms.

One of a handful of local non-traditional students to receive college scholarships from the Bedford Women's Club, longtime Bedford Police Officer Jessica Humphrey recently left her position as the School Resource Officer at Bedford High to spend more time with her young son.

On May 17, she told BWC members she has enrolled in a masters degree program at Southern New Hampshire University. Members, in turn, awarded Humphrey a scholarship at the club’s annual spring luncheon at the Manchester Country Club.

“I have been a police officer with the Town of Bedford for 10 years,” said Humphrey.

The club is also presenting scholarships to two high school seniors at their awards ceremonies and has also awarded grants to several groups who serve the Bedford community: the Girl Scouts, the New Hampshire Catholic Charities Food Bank, the Bedford Fire Department, UpReach Therapeutic Riding Center, Stand by Me, and Friends of the Town of Bedford Cemeteries.

Planning for the new club year will begin immediately under the leadership of co-presidents Kathleen Catania and Kathleen McMillan. The 2012-2013 BWC board also includes first vice presidents Bobbe Fairman and Bennie Hanauer, second vice presidents Sandra Mackey and June Scott, co-recording secretaries Margaret Goodrich and Debbie Woodhull, corresponding secretary Beverly O’Bryon, treasurer Julie Donovan, auditor Mary Jo Howe, and directors Amanda Cebrowski, Thelma Christopher, Becki Kuhns, Genevieve Miller, and past president Joan Miller.
