Phillip Mahoney has dedicated the last decade and a half to the service of the town and people of Bedford.
On Aug. 21, that loyalty and hard work was rewarded when the Bedford Police Department promoted him to patrol sergeant.
Sgt. Mahoney, a 15-year veteran of the local force, attended the 112th New Hampshire Police Academy in 1997. He is a field training officer and one of the department’s firearms instructors.

He'll now be responsible for overseeing the midnight shift and is one of five
sergeants assigned to the patrol division.
