Bedford Women's Club Offering Non-Traditional Scholarship
Group looks to support continuing education.

The Bedford Women’s Club is inviting Bedford women who are enrolled in a post-secondary degree program yet are outside the traditional college age bracket to apply for scholarship assistance to continue study or training.
The criteria for women who are non-traditional students includes admission to a program at an accredited school, personal statement, financial need, community involvement and work experience.
In 2010, Heather Avella, mother of two young children, received the BWC Scholarship for Non-traditional Students to enroll in a distance dietetic program at the University of Northern Colorado.

In 2009, Ashley Jones received support to complete her program at the Connecticut Culinary Institute.
While pursuing a Masters Degree in Gifted and Talented Education at the University of Connecticut, Cheri Schmitt received support from the BWC.

Lynne Guimond Findlay, when her daughter was 24, received a scholarship to support her enrollment at the Franklin Pierce Law Center.
Likewise, Bonnie Hoyt, when her daughter was 13, received a scholarship while enrolled in the New Hampshire Institute of Art.
Mahboobeh Bahremandjooy, mother of two, received support to earn a degree in biochemistry at the University of New Hampshire.
Beth Richeson received support for her study at Andover Newton Theological School.
Applications are available at www.bedfordwomensclub.org under the downloads tab (BWC Continuing Education Scholarship). This application must be printed, completed and mailed to the Bedford Women’s Club Scholarship Committee, Attention:Corresponding Secretary, P.O. Box 10015, Bedford, NH 03110 before April 1.
The Bedford Women’s Club began giving scholarships to high school seniors in 1947. In the 1990’s the club added a scholarship for non-traditional students. For more information, call Bobbe Fairman at 472-5658 or Nancy Herper at 471-0892.
