Body Found In Wooded Area ID As Missing East Manchester Man

The cause of death of Clay Whitfield, 57, who was found on Karatzas Avenue today, is still under investigation.

MANCHESTER, NH — A body found in a wooded area behind Karatzas Avenue this afternoon has been identified, according to police. Clay Whitfield, 57, of East Manchester, has been missing since Feb. 28, 2018. At around 3:30 p.m. on March 30, police were called to a wooded area near an apartment complex for a report of a body found.

About four hours later, after reaching the next of kin, police notified the press that the body was identified as Whitfield.

According to police earlier this month, there were a number of unconfirmed sightings of Whitfield during the time he was missing. He reportedly suffered from disorders, was known to have substance issues, and believed that people were “out to get him.” Police noted that he had gone missing in the past but usually reappeared after a few days.
