Boston Murder Suspect to Be Arraigned Thursday

James Paige is being held in Hillsborough County jail on other charges. He is suspected of raping and killing a teen in 1987.

BOSTON, MA – A former Boston man now living in Manchester is expected to be arraigned later this week on a first-degree murder charge.

James Paige, 49, waived rendition proceedings last week, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley, and will be arraigned on Thursday for the alleged murder of Dora Brimage in 1987.

Paige is being held in the Hillsborough County jail. Boston Police detectives will take custody of him on Wednesday for booking and processing.

Conley, in a press statement, noted that Brimage was found badly beaten, sexually assaulted, and strangled to death in a vacant Warren Street storefront on the morning of Sept. 7, 1987.

“After biological evidence was tested under a federal grant for cold case investigations, Boston Police detectives uploaded a DNA profile from that evidence to a nationwide DNA database in 2014,” the statement said. “That profile matched Paige’s, which was submitted after a felony conviction.”
