Social Media - Statistics You Should Know and Use

I remember when I first heard of Facebook and Twitter. I was very resistant to using them because I thought they would only be a phase. I was wrong and I am delighted that I was wrong.
I have been working in marketing long enough to remember when some of the only options you had for advertising involved paying serious money for traditional advertising (print, radio, tv) or maybe you could get lucky and trade for services. Today, thanks to social media, there are many options available that are free or low cost to market your business. These tools allow you to quickly engage your customers, quickly learn about their wants, and quickly incorporate this into your business. Did you notice the emphasis on quickly?
These tools have great statistics - whether it is how they are growing or how they grow business. (see below)
A couple key points to walk away with...People have enough options and limited time. You don't want to make it hard for them to find you, learn about you or engage with you. Make their lives easier and they will thank you for it with their business. Use several social tools so you can reach different people or reach people repeatly if they use all the same tools you use (you reach your goals either way). Don't forget to set up a social media tracker so you can see which social media programs are working for your business. Traditional advertising should still have a place in your marketing plans. They are making impressive strides in adapting to meet the wants and needs of their customers.
