The Bedford Library Foundation invites you to spend an evening with author Laura Knoy “Beyond the Book,” at their annual fall fundraising event on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
The evening begins at 5:30pm with hors d'oeuvres, fall beverages, and music, followed by a talk by author Laura Knoy. Knoy’s debut novel is The Shopkeeper of Alsace, based on a real-life story. Spanning 30 years between 1915 and1945, the novel tells the story of Sarah, a woman who escaped from Poland during World War I and settled in Alsace, France.
Laura Knoy is an award-winning journalist. She founded New Hampshire’s most widely respected and recognized public radio program, “The Exchange,” which she hosted for 25 years. Laura has also worked at the national level; newscasting, hosting and reporting for NPR. Today, she’s an in-demand narrator, podcaster and public speaker. In her free time, Laura can be found reading or somewhere in NH’s great outdoors.
Tickets to “Beyond the Book” are $35 each and all money raised directly supports the Bedford Public Library. Tickets are available at the Bedford Public Library front desk or online through the Library’s calendar.
The Bedford Public Library Foundation is a nonprofit founded in 1993 and serves as the main fundraising channel for the library. This year, the Foundation supported non-budgetary items on the Library’s wishlist, including
- over $5,000 in museum passes,
- $6,000 for Playaways,
- and over $15,000 toward the front landscaping project.
