Donated Pet Food Stolen from Animal Rescue League: Cops

Bedford Police seek assistance with case from early this morning; Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire requests help offsetting the loss.

BEDFORD, NH - Police in Bedford are seeking assistance from the public after about $700 worth of pet food was stolen form the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire this morning.

The building, located on Route 101, reported the theft on March 20, 2016, after employees found storage area damaged and cat and dog food that was donated to the org stolen.

“The food was stored in a screened-in area under the overhang of the building’s exterior,” according to a press statement from Chief John Bryfonski of the Bedford Police Department. “Surveillance video shows a man arriving at the property at approximately 1:35 a.m. in a dark colored sedan. He then proceeded to the overhang area, where he pushed in the screen and was able to obtain access to approximately 65 bags of food.”

The League has requested members of its Facebook page to make donations before 5 p.m. today and again beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 21, when the org re-opens, in an effort to replace the stolen food. The org is also looking for help fixing the doors to the pet food pantry and the tool shed, since it does not receive state or federal funding and is solely dependent on donations by the public.
